Workshop

On 17 April, we will be running a workshop for organisations who want to apply. This will be on Zoom, at 11 AM.

The LCVS Grants Team will be delivering the workshop to go through the eligibility criteria and answer any questions you may have.

This workshop will be particularly useful if this is the first time your organisation has applied for Skelton Trust funding.

Please note: this workshop will be recorded.

About

The Skelton Charity is a charitable trust empowered to make grants only to legally constituted charities established in Lancashire, Greater Manchester and Merseyside, including the unitary authorities of Blackpool, Blackburn, Warrington and Halton.

Although the Trustees enjoy complete discretion when considering applications, they are inclined to favor applications for:

  • Equipment; from organisation’s supporting the elderly, people with disabilities and from youth groups.
  • Small specific capital projects of proven viability from community groups.
  • 10% towards overhead costs – considering the cost-of-living crisis, applicants can request a 10% contribution (of the total amount requested) towards overhead costs (utilities etc).

The Trustees do not usually fund:

  • Large building appeals

and do not make grants to individuals.

It is their policy to make relatively modest grants to a wide number of applicants, which tend to be in the range of £500 – £3,000 but can be, exceptionally, as high as £5,000. The total annual income at their disposal is approximately £100,000.

In the case of an application from a local branch of a national charity, the local accounts should be submitted. Liverpool Charity & Voluntary Services (LCVS), who are administering the grants programme, may contact applicants for additional information.

Grants to eligible charities are determined by the Trustees at an annual meeting held each summer. After the meeting applicants are notified in writing of the decision of the Trustees.
